[solved]pclos xfce not installing
« on: July 28, 2012, 11:30:17 AM »
Got a live cd of PCLOS Phoenix 32 bit on a usb drive. I booted the live cd and tried to open gparted but it opened and then shut down immediately after opening.

Tried the install Phoenix shortcut on the desktop. It opens until I click the next button and then it closes.

I am trying to install Phoenix on a laptop TOSHIBA TECRA A9 with Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7500  @ 2.20GHz. I presently am dual booting this machine with XP and Mepis 11. I was going to replace Mepis with PCLOS Phoenix.

Any ideas as to why drake-live install is closing?

Thanks,
Harold

I have had this happen when running some programs from a liveCD running on one of my machines that does not have enough ram for the operating system and the application to both run at the same time.

If I were you, I would download the Gparted livecd ISO and burn it and boot from it.

In general, I almost always use the livecd version of gparted to prepare drives before a new install.

I only wanted to check the partitions with Gparted. When Gparted wouldn't stay running, I rebooted into another distro and checked the partitions to make sure what they were and their size. Everything was good, so I went back in with the live cd to install. That is when I discovered that Drake-live install was crashing too.

I have the live cd on both usb and a cd. I will check the cd and see what happens with Drake-live install in it.

Thanks,
Harold

update
Tried the cd on the laptop and everything installed with no problem.
