LXDE x64 questions
« on: July 27, 2012, 03:51:31 AM »
Hi there,

I just come back to the PCLinuxOS because I've liked from the beginning. The step down aspect was it didn't has the 64 bit version though.

Now, having a 64bit edition RC1 of LXDE I decided to try it and I wasn't disappointed at all. Fast and clean.

However there are some aspects that I can't figure out how can I can solve them and by that I'll narrow down one by one:

1. I've tried to install Libreoffice through Sunaptic manages and after his installation script runs the core can't be installed due of the following:

"Reading Package Lists...
Building Dependency Tree...
The following packages will be upgraded
   lib64xfs1 (3.1.7-1pclos2011 => 3.1.8-1pclos2012)
   xfsprogs (3.1.7-1pclos2011 => 3.1.8-1pclos2012)
2 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 removed and 0 not upgraded.
Inst lib64xfs1 [3.1.7-1pclos2011] (3.1.8-1pclos2012 Unknown:Unknown/Unknown)
Inst xfsprogs [3.1.7-1pclos2011] (3.1.8-1pclos2012 Unknown:Unknown/Unknown)
Conf lib64xfs1 (3.1.8-1pclos2012 Unknown:Unknown/Unknown)
Conf xfsprogs (3.1.8-1pclos2012 Unknown:Unknown/Unknown)"

2. I've one additional monitor plugged into a docking station where my Dell 6500 Inspirion with NVIDIA video card resides.

Using the nvidia config panel I just can't setup the image from the laptop to be cloned correctly(bottom panel and aspect ratio to be maintained) on the second wider monitor.

3. I've an external SATA drive with two partitions, one NTFS and the second one , Linux EXT 4.  Each time when I'm plug in it the Ext 4 Linux partition is mounted just as read-only?!!! . I don't need to input some row into the etc/fstab because I'm not use this external drive all the time. Any thoughts?

Thanks for any suggestions :)

First: 64bit is in testing. It is not yet a supported release.
Second: when asking for support, one question per thread, please.

I'll answer this question about LibreOffice. ---

LibreOffice can not be installed through Synaptic, as it is not in our repo. Instead install the latest version of lomanager and run it. It will download and install LibreOffice. Be sure you are fully upgraded when you run it.
