This message is not displayed every time. Mostly, it appears after the machine has been booted. I try and launch an application and the message appears. On this occasion is happened to be thunderbird but it has happened with other software.

Error launching /usr/share/applications/mozilla-thunderbird.desktop. Either KLauncher is not running anymore, or it failed to start the application.

Once, I clear the message I then re-launch the application and it runs ok
Its not a major issue but would be interested to know if there is anything further I can do to trace the problem?

Cheers for now

Gary

There are many such reports from various distros.  For some reason a necessary process (possibly kde4init) is not running automatically on start-up.  FWIW, here is a search of links on the subject in the past 12 months.
