Back to LXDE desktop from Openbox
« on: August 17, 2012, 04:53:18 PM »
I've had PCLinuxOS LXDE installed on a Acer Aspire netbook. Worked fine.

While looking in the Control Panel boot options I decided to select OpenBox as the default desktop environment.

The netbook now boots to (what I think is) a partially working OpenBox desktop. Most of the applications don't work ('File missing' error message), but Firefox and Xterm Terminal do work.

The 'Configure Open Box' menu option does nothing.

Is there a way to get back to the LXDE desktop?

Login with LXDE as session with your default Desktop Manager ( guess it' s GDM (Gnome Desktop Manager)).

Run as root in xterm:
Code: [Select]
gdmsetupFirst tab -> default session -> choose LXDE.

All sessions available in your system you'll see after command:
Code: [Select]
ls -al /etc/X11/dm/Sessions/

Just a note to say thanks for the replies.

Unfortunately the said Acer Aspire has now completely stopped working, so I haven't had the chance to try your suggestions.

Nevertheless, assuming it can be repaired and starts running again, I'll give them a go and get back with the outcome.
