PCLOS comes with a lot of system services turned on by default. When I used to run Slackware it came with most services turned off by default. For simplicity's sake I would like everything turned off that I don't need. I have a simple desktop, a printer, a wired DSL modem and speakers. I'm not running any servers, I don't use bluetooth or any wireless connections, don't do any online gaming. All I do is write, print using CUPS, listen to music, surf online, download and send email using POP3/SMTP. Really simple stuff.
I know I need (or want) alsa, cups, iptables, keytable, kheader, numlock, shorewall, sound, xfs. There are a number of other services running that I don't know if I need or not.
Which services are necessary or recommended for my situation? Everything else gets turned off.
