Unrecognized ram block.. [SOLVED]

Hi

I have four ram blocks ddr2 each 1gb. But kinfocenter only report 3gb. Now in pcc I see that three of them are single bank and one is double bank connection    Where to put the double bank module to get it recognized and utilized

Pclinux is a 32 bit distro and can't use all your ram unless you install a pae kernel that uses more than 3 gbs of ram

In synaptic sarch fro kernel and in the list of results search for kernel 3.2.18 pae and install it

It will be a new option when you boot the machine, select it and see if it works for you, be patient wit h the fir st boot of that new kernel, it takes longer to boot

Thanks for the reply! Think that did it. I installed the pae kernel and now all my ram is detected. And during the boot process I saw for the first time nVidea logo  There was also a kernel with pae.bfs. When to use that one?

The pae is basic kernel and extra ram

The pae.bfs is pae and bfs modifications, could be helpful depending on your usage

Install it and see if it works and is stable in your hardware

About nvidia, do you have a nvidia video card?  If that is the case, be sure to select
The right driver for it, sometimes when you change kernel the video driver could be changed so you could need to set driver again

I would say that if you don't have stability issues leave the kernel and driver and enjoy
