Missing the following component: wl

perhaps is this the reason why my connection is so poor?
should i just download the files from that recommended URL? or will they be available in repos soon.

Have you searched through Synaptic for  broadcom ......  and checked that you have the required files installed?

There are also packages which allow you to extract the required firmware from Win drivers.

There is a package called dkms-broadcom-wl in the repository. You could try installing it.
