Need Help installing TP-LINK USB Wireless TL-WDN3200 adapter

Hello all,

I've downloaded the linux tarball for the TL-WDN3200.
The name of the file is DPO_RT5572_LinuxSTA_2.6.0.1_20120629.tar.bz2 .
I've tried extracting it and nothing works.
I can view the file's contents just fine in Dolphin.
I can even read the txt files without a problem.
I've tried to install it using apt-get, but it tells me it can't find the package
and I'm in the folder containing the file when I start up apt-get.

I'm new to installing files in linux so please forgive me for my neubiness...

I suggest you make a Package Request post giving the link where to find the source code so that a developer will package the driver and add it to the PCLOS repository for all to use.

have you tried to configure it on pclinux first?

about apt-get, why are you trying to use it?

normally when files are provided, you need to compile them and edit a couple files, not just install them the way you mention

apt-get if i understand correctly is meant to install things form the repo, not from your hard disk

the package must come with a step by step guide to install and load a module if your pclinux install is not detecting it or doesn't have the files required

also you could try to install it with ndsiwrapper but you need the windows files

If one knows how, it is possible to point apt-get (and synaptic) at a local repository hosted on a hard drive.  Instructions for doing this are printed on the DVDs for the PCLinuxOS repositories I bought from On-Disk.com for 2007 at its end of life.

It's not normally done for PCLinuxOS, but it can be done.
