Hi.

I am willing to purchase a fully compatible USB CDMA EVDO modem to be used with my PCLinuxOS.

The question is where can I find a list of USB CDMA EVDO devices that is fully supported by PCLinuxOS so that I can make the right purchase decision?

I've looked at http://pclinuxoshelp.com/index.php/PCLinuxOS_Hardware_Database but USB  modem is not even mentioned.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you.

i have a cdma modem made by anyData, it connects to the internet without a simcard and i only can use it with vwdial.
in liveCD i was able to connect via kppp but after install, it fails to connect.
the network manager sees as an 3G modem but further on it says to me that it has no simcard inserted.
so, go for vwdial as i did myself! you will need dial number, user ID and  password.

What about tethering (through wifi) with other cellular devices?

Most android phones have tethering ability. Recently most carriers do not even try to block tethering since they couldn't block it anyways and now with tiered data they want you to go over the limit.

You can tether to android devices from Verizon or Sprint (and their respective MVNOs). You can even buy a mifi device from Verizon or Virgin.

Verizon mifi devices are being sold by Best Buy at a seriously discounted rate (3g only). No contract necessary. But they do need you to commit to a monthly agreement. Virgin on the other hand will allow you to pay as you go.

If I misunderstood the question I'm sorry.
