look at this link

http://forum-en.msi.com/faq/article/bios-beep-codes

the closest is memory error, if it is not booting, you have problems with the video card or the ram modules, reseat video card and ram modules

if that doesn't help, remove/replace ram modules

if you can boot, this could be a memory test option you enabled on bios or a problem with the battery of the clock

Is it completing the boot process? Is it booting successfully?

It sounds like error beep codes from the motherboard.

Hi

Thank You very much for help.

I boot all right and I have inserted new battery in motherboard because bios could not hold my boot preference.
But bios settings still not hold settings for a long time.
My bios is :
Date   08/22/2007
Vendor   American Megatrends Inc. (www.ami.com)
Version   V2.1

I use default settings in the bios except for the boot sequence priority.

My motherboard is :

Name   MS-7349
Vendor   MSI

Apart from these beeps the system runs like a flying dream!

then it should be a option you put like test ram or similar options, i don't remember what other options in bios can make sounds, verify the link i posted, might have the answer

that or just unplug the speaker so no more beeps will be heard  ;D

Some info from the T6 link

AMI BIOS:
1 beep - System boot successfull
*1beep - Refresh failure - (NO VIDEO) memory refresh failure (bad memory)
2 beeps - Parity error - bad memory
3 beeps - Base 64K memory failure - bad memory

Have you got the same brand and/or type of memory sticks in each slot?
PCLinuxOS 32bit KDE 4.10.1; kernel-3.4.11-pclos1.bfs & 64bit 3.2.18bfs; NVidia GeForce 8400GS 1GB 310.19 driver

Most up-to-date error beeps from AMI:

3 beeps: "Base memory read/write test error"
Recommended action: "Reseat the memory, or replace with known good modules"

Find full information including PDF with detailed information about errors/troubleshooting at: http://ami.com/support/amibiossupport/

If reseating doesn't work you can also try to rma your RAM for a new set, depending on your RAM and the manufacture warranty they may just ship you a brand new set of the same or equivalent RAM.
(Also if you do desire to just unplug the speaker I would first check the bios, you can typically turn off some beeps/tests allowing you to still get information about other future problems)

"depending on your RAM and the manufacture warranty they may just ship you a brand new set of the same or equivalent RAM."

if my memory serves me well, this mainboard is old, 5 years, the ram probably is out of warranty

since he already changed the mainboard battery, the mainboard could be giving problems too

a full cleaning process could help here too, don't forget to check the video card slot too, concentrate your efforts in every slot in the mainboard and while at it, check for bad electrolytic capacitors, your board probably has 10 or 20, on that time, very few came with solid state capacitors

Well that's why I said depending on manufacture, I only buy high quality RAM meaning all my RAM is lifetime guaranteed. In fact I find many mid range RAM sticks ship with either 5, 10, or lifetime guarantees too.

Make sure you really clean the RAM slots thoroughly. The 3 beep code is suppose, possible it's having a fluke, to be memory specific, like menotu posted this board probably does a 64K meaning swapping sticks should help you detect if just one stick is bad. Most Memory tests that do a 64K are testing the first 64K in the RAM, not the rest of the stick.

those warranties only apply in some countries, depending how and when you bought the ram, you can have 1 year or less to apply warranty

i used to buy stuff with 3 months of warranty only

Hmm, interesting no Idea what companies your talking about. The companies I use for personal and customer builds are all lifetime guarantee for manufacture defect with no limitations on region/purchaser. You can even buy a used module and still claim on the warranty, than again I don't buy any cheap/unknown company. It's as simple as sending them in the mail back, they will send a brand new replacement back to the address provided it's a manufacture defect. (Meaning no OC, physical damage, etc)

Anyway, I guess we are getting a bit off topic.  :D

"Hmm, interesting no Idea what companies your talking about"

you assume i am in north america, with direct access to the company, it is not the case

most companies offer only 1 or 3 years, a 5 years pc won't have warranty

if you buy expensive ram with great warranty, good for you, the rest of us have to work with alot less

and yes, off topic

about the ram modules, verify if there is dust, dirt or any other weird substance on the ram module contacts, the copper surfaces on some ram modules under specific humidity situations needs some cleaning, sometimes you need to use a eraser to clean the contacts, alcohol can work too

Perhaps you thought I sounded a bit offensive, if that was the case I'm sorry didn't mean too. I'm still confused by what you are saying, are you talking about the whole computer? If so this may be where the confusion came from, I'm talking about the RAM itself not the build/assembly company. I was just suggesting they check the RAM warranty, because if it's within it and the RAM is bad you can get a it fixed easily. Majority of the RAM I have handled, even the lower end, typically have a warranty that is not limited by region, purchaser, or assembler.

Either way, sorry if you took it offensively I didn't mean too be offensive/rude. I was just trying to suggest a solution that I often use for bad RAM.

lets forget that ok?  :)

i was thinking on the beep, do you hear it always or it began recently?

if recently, did you changed other things different to the CR2032 battery?

the battery, does it report proper voltages in the bios? it should report between 3.35 and 3.28 volts

have you installed batteries like this one in the past?  it is easy to damage them if you don't know how to do it

after replacing it, did you configured bios again?
