pkg-utils dependencies
« on: July 08, 2012, 02:27:37 AM »
Hi folks,

I apologise if this issue is addressed elsewhere. I did search for it.

I just did a synaptic update which updated the following files.

Code: [Select]
libbabl0.1_0 (0.1.4-1pclos2011) to 0.1.10-1pclos2012

libtiff4 (4.0.1-1pclos2012) to 4.0.2-1pclos2012

pkgutils (0.1.5-3pclos2011) to 0.1.6-3pclos2012

The mkrepo script ran as part of the update which is good but when the update completely finished,  pkgutils (0.1.5-3pclos2011)  was still sitting in synaptic as a file that was upgradeable. I then right clicked on it and chose to mark for upgrade but it throws an unresolvable dependencies error:

Code: [Select]
Depends: kde-baseapps-dolphin  but it is not installable

Depends: kde-utils-ark  but it is not installable

I tried searching for these in synaptic but can't find them. Any ideas?

Check Synpatic Section(s) for "kde" instead of "kde4". Don't forget to Reload.

Thanks Archie.

I checked synaptic and it shows me that I have kdebase4-dolphin and kdeutils4-ark  installed but the dependency error is asking for kde-baseapps-dolphin  and  kde-utils-ark  ???

pkgutils-kde-0.1.6-3 needs the updated KDE 4.8.3 packages in order to satisfy it's dependencies.

Since you haven't applied the KDE 4.8.3 update (which as I understand it is only a TRIAL update at this stage) those dependencies cannot be satisfied.

Unfortunately this confusion is going to persist for as long as the KDE update is optional and packages that depend on it are placed in the stable sections of the repo.

Terry.
