(SOLVED) Just done reinstall - slow boot up and other problems

Hi all

Just done an update, first for a couple of weeks, and have lots of problems.

Note:  I've done the rename .kde and .kde.bak and got my desktop settings back but:

Bootup is very slow.  After selecting PCLinux on the GRUB screen I get a blank screen for 30 sec.  Then when the splash screen comes up and I press esc the the bootup hangs for 1 1/2 mins after the message "Starting System Message Bus" before continuing to boot.  I then login and it takes another minute or so for the network (ethernet connection to router) to come up.  In the meantime I get multiple messages telling me that my two HP printers cannot be installed as the drivers are missing. They eventually get installed OK.

Final problem is that about once in every ten logins when I click anywhere on the desktop I get 12 instances of Dolphin come up.  If I close them all they just reappear and the Application Launcher Menu doesn't work in that it just flashes up and disappears again so I have to do a power off reset.

Before I give up and do a new install does anyone have any ideas?

What the ....

I tried rebooting several times last night to no avail.

This morning I booted up and the problems have all gone.  Power on to usable desktop with network up in less than 1 minute.

Marvelous this PCLinuxOS, it fixes itself

This problem went away of it's own accord.  However, after a recent re-install of PCLinuxOS 2012.08 KDE exactly the same thing is happening; 1 1/2 min hang up after "Starting System Message Bus", network slow coming up, and multiple messages re., the two printers.  I have tried changing the network card to no avail.

Any ideas out there?

O.K. After A bit of experimenting I've fixed it.  Time from boot to login screen now 22 secs

I had two printers installed/connected.  Both working fine (apparently).

When I switched of both printers before booting I got a fast bootup. Switching on the Laserjet 1018 after login gave no error messages but switching on the Deskjet f4280 gave error messages.

I deleted the Deskjet installation, switched it off, switched it back on and re-installed using PCC (I think I installed it using CUPS last time). Re-booted and all was fine.

Still don't know what was going on but happy now
