Help me solve this simple problem. [SOLVED]

my problem is..

when i boot to my os kde4 fullmonthy 2011, i'm getting error.


here is the problem:

Checking root filesystem
fsck.ext4: symbol lookup error: fsck.ext4: undefined symbol: set_com_err_gettext
                                                                                                                   [FAILED]


*** An error occured during file system check.
*** Dropping you to a shell; the system will reboot
***when you leave the shell.
Give root password for maintenance
(or type Control-D to maintenance):

i dont know where to post, so i post here because its happen after i update some software or maybe hardware in synaptic before this happen.

Are you fully updated?

I googled for your error message and got more than 1000 hits. For instance this one:

Not fully update yet. Just making a few update for some useful preinstalled apps.

First thing to check, is your PC/notebook time setting correct ?
You have to look in the Bios Screen for this to check.

I'm really sure my time setting already ok. Its already correct from the beginning...
i never adjust it..my time zone is gmt +8.
Hmmmm maybe i should check it out... Then i will post the result here.....

You should not do selective upgrades. See this post

  can anyone help me recover what i have done to my os. Already looking to other sites,
but all not giving any nice answer to solve it. Only know bugs bugs bug n bug.
maybe something that can recover using live cd or something like that.
Can anyone teach.

apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade
Helped me when I did a selective upgrade and borked my system.

I hope you have your stuff backed up. Otherwise use a liveCD and backup first.

reinstall what? i think i just undo what i have update so far.
And also remove all useless apps... To much apps for fullmonthy.
Now my laptop can run smoothly.

I meant if you reinstalled PCLOS.

Usually you can't go back to the earlier version once you updated a package, as there's only one repo and all other servers are just mirrors of that one, which means the previous version of a package is not available anymore unless you save the downloaded packages.

The code I suggested would do what you didn't, a full update.
