[SOLVED] My new install of PCLOS FullMonty defaults to Desktop 2 on startup ...

OK,  I have done a search on this in the forum and found several ideas to address the issue of the OS defaulting to desktop 2 upon any boot or restart, then after about 3 seconds it proceeds to desktop 1.  I did set the preference up in fm_widgets to direct it to desktop 1 and did the unlock and lock widgets  proceedure and rebooted as one thread suggested.  No joy obtained there  - it still goes to desktop 2 first.

Any ideas what I could try next to change it to boot directly to desktop 1 or 6 ?  Is there a workaround or some parameter to be adjusted ?

Have you saved your session?  You could try putting it on desktop one, then (after making sure you don't have any unwanted applications open) manually save the session.

Rename or delete the file ~/.kde4/share/config/kwinrc.

Thank you for those links.  I did see the first one before and tried the work around in the others.

Unfortunately, these and the ones from the other posters have not resolved this little issue.  I am glad you mentioned Virtual Box in your post on my other thread.  I also use it quite a lot.  In fact I just fired it up to have a look at PCLOS FM that I had installed recently.  It has the exact same symptom.  That makes three separate platforms that have the same problem.  So, its safe to say that it is not hardware related.  It is also safe to say that it is not a configuration issue as all three installs were fresh and without any customizing or user configuration variables.  Attached is a screen shot of my VirtualBox running PCLOS 2012 FM on my other machine.

To refer to your suggestion about a redo of the kernel with pae and bfs, It was my intention to install PCLOS FM on my 32 bit legacy box to replace an aging dual boot of Ubuntu 10.04 and WinXP.  I already have stable Linux OSs on my three 64 bit boxes - I even have a copy of (dare I say) Win 7 on one of them that I use when it is a dire necessity.

So, I am still puzzled and looking for a work around to clean up my brand new fresh install of PCLinuxOS FullMonty ...  Any suggestions would be accepted graciously.
