Vista Bubbles screensaver
« on: June 28, 2012, 05:59:31 PM »
Hello,

My daughter wanted me to see if there is a bubbles screensaver like what Win Vista/7 has. She wants to have the bubbles overlay across the desktop just like Vista/7. She is currently running PCLOS KDE. Thanks!

Do you have kde-artwork-kscreensaver installed?
It has several similar screensavers, but I can't recall exactly-don't have it installed.  :)
You can check synaptic if it is installed. (you probably know that)  ;D
Go to PCC>Display and Monitor to check'm out.  ;D
Enjoy

Thanks for the reply. The bubbles gl screensaver is not the same as the Vista bubbles screensaver. The bubbles gl screensaver turns the screen black and then shows bubbles. The Vista bubbles screensaver floats (overlays) bubbles over the current desktop. Any other ideas? Thanks!

I think Compiz had something like that. I'm not sure what needs to be installed though, since I haven't used it for a long time.

I think the closest we have in pclos KDE is the openGL screensaver Science, set up to "Exponential". That produces a rolling glass ball type effect.

That is what I was thinking of. You can modify the effects in the screensaver setup. Your daughter might come up with something she likes even better.  ;D

I think he's looking for a desktop effect not a screensaver.
DeskMotive - Bubbles effect

You can try Snow Effect !
You must enabled  it in pclinuxos and you'll get no bubbles but snow (or better stars) fall down in the desktop  ;)

That is what I'm looking for and it is a screen saver or at lease that what M$ calls it.
