[SOLVED] KDE desktop reset itself to default
« on: June 25, 2012, 02:05:29 PM »
The oddest thing happened - I had my desktop and my panels and whatever else in such a way I was pretty happy. All of a sudden the screen froze where the mouse pointer would move but had no click-affect. That was unusual in itself but I thought, "restart time". That of course didn't work becasue everything was frozen so I thought, "reset time" and I hit the reset button. When the desktop comes back up the desktop is totally back to default including the panel size and panel icons, 2 desktops and gray metal PCLOS wallpaper. I logged out and back in and nothing changed.  So now I'm back to making things the way I liked them but was just curious if anything like this has happened to others and if they maybe worked out why it happened.

If ignorance is bliss why aren't more people happy?

If it happened after an update there is a post from Old-Polack giving step by step instructions using KDE4.bak
I shall pass this way but once;
any good therefore that I can do,
or any kindness that I can show
let me not defer nor neglect it,
for I shall not pass this way again.

Thanks very much.  That seems to have fixed it.  I guess after the last update (a few days ago) I must have not rebooted so for me it didn't happen after the update.  Then again it really shouldn't happen, should it.  In a perfect world...
