Messengers
« on: June 25, 2012, 04:12:13 AM »
I used to chat online quite a lot. But it is only yesterday I found a "glitch". I am sure that wasn't always there.
I was exchanging some files with a Windows user, using Kopete. I received his with no problems but he never saw mine offered???
Then I switched to Pidgin and later to Jitsi. NON of these was able to send files! That is to say, at my end all looked normal (file offered) but the other party running Windows never saw the "accept" option.
Anyone can confirm this? Is this solvable?

I rather resolve to sending the files per email  ;)

But that doesn't stop me wondering.

Some of those services limit the file size .....  is it possible you were over the size limit?

I so rarely use IM with anyone running Windows that I have no experience of it.

Nope, just simple and small files, pictures being the largest.

I think we (again) miss out somewhere being compatible with Yahoo messenger. Isn't the first time  :P

Well as Jitsi is written in Java I suspect the Win side of things  ;)

Maybe you should have encouraged your Win contact to switch to something else  :D

Hehehe... few "Windowers" would consider doing so. It's no Yahoo, no M$, no Apple even. It must be alien!

The inability to run the webcam will be the deadly blow.

But ..... I, for one, wonder if file sharing would work that way  ???
