Xfce pulling in Texlive
« on: June 23, 2012, 04:20:50 PM »
Have recently installed PCLOS-Xfce and on first update it wanted to replace Jadetex and XmiTex with the Texlive packages, a payload in excess of 700MB. Apparently Xfce does not need it! This originally came up in the following post:

and looks like it is related to this one too:

The above posts have all the details, this place seemed best to bring it to your attention.  Thanks.

These packages are not broken. They pull in dependencies according to their spec files. If they were broken, they would fail to install because of an inability to install dependencies.
Your dislike of / disagreement with which dependencies are installed does not meet the definition of a broken package.

Moving to XFCE section.

Thank you for getting back to me. As a very recent newbie I just wanted to bring the subject to the attention of others who may wish to know. If the Xfce board is the right place then I am happy that you moved it here as I was not sure if the broken packages was the best place! Its not just a case of dislike/disagreement, I was just trying to be helpful in advertising a possible problem/quirk I noticed, which others had chipped in on. I am sorry for posting it on the wrong forum and wasting your time. At least I have learned a lot about all this in the meantime and will investigate/read-up more  :)
