Hola, me ocurre algunas veces, no siempre, que cuando cierro sesion en mi pclinuxos kde no vuelve a la pantalla de inicio sino que se queda en negro por tiempo indefinido y hay que reiniciar la maquina. ¿Le pasa esto a alguien mas?, ¿sabe alguien a que puede ser debido?, ¿problema de hard o de soft?, ¿kernel?...
Agradezco toda colaboracion posible.

¿Tipo de máquina (procesador, memoria, video, etc.)? ¿drivers de video utilizados?

¿Versión de PCLinuxOS y si se actualiza completamente o selectivamente?

¿Kernel utilizado?

Con esos datos es posible que los foristas puedan opinar con mejores bases, de otra manera es un juego de adivinanzas

no, nunca me ha pasado en 5 años usando pclinux

como dice crow, mas informacion es necesaria

para saber el kernel, en konsole escriba uname -r y copie los resultados

para saber la tarjeta de video y otros detalles lspci en konsole

el controlador de video lo puede verificar en pclinux control center/hardware/ configurar video

Hola.
Bueno, mi equipo está un poco obsoleto pero hasta ahora aguanta bastante bien y nunca hemos tenido problemas serios.
La máquina es una ATX/ASRock 775i48 con Intel Pentium 4 a 3.20 GHz, 1 Gb de RAM, la gráfica es NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT (agp) 256 RAM, Driver: NVIDIA GeForce 6100, el monitor CMC 17"AD 1280x1024-24bpp y el audio Sound Blaster (Ensoniq 3880B pci). El sistema es PClinuxOS 2012.02 actualizando completamente; cada semana  ;D, la versión del Kernel es: 2.6.38.8-pclos1.bfs y KDE versión 4.6.5. lo demás no creo que sea muy relevante..., 2 HD ide ATA int. y 3 HD usb ext., impresora+escaner, lector-grabador CD-DVD, bluetooth, etc.
Espero que con esta información puedan ayudar un poco más.

si eso es obsoleto para usted no quiero saber que piensa de mi semprom  :-X

bien, el controlador de la tarjeta de video deberia ser el propietario de nvidia 295, puede verificar que este instalado en synaptic, para configurar la tarjeta de video y ponerla a utilizar este controlador, al seleccionar ese controlador creo que le ofrece usar controlador propietario o el libre

no tengo hardware nvidia y no recuerdo los pasos para hacer esto

En el centro de control de PCLinuxOS - Hardware - configurar tarjeta de video - vendor - nvidia   puede ver que driver tiene instalado.

Escoja el mejor, probablemente es: geforce 6100 to geforce 360

Hola de nuevo. Ahí va un poco más de información, y gracias por vuestra paciencia.

Haciendo una búsqueda con "nvidia" en Synaptic estos son los paquetes encontrados como instalados:

(*) De este dice algo así como... "These drivers are not stable and may crash your system..."!!. ¿Sería mejor desinstalarlo o no es necesario?.

En "Control Center-Configure Video Card" bajo la solapa NVIDIA aparecen:
GeForce 2 MX to GeForce 4
GeForce 400 series and later
GeForce 6100 to Ge Force 360 (**)
GeForce FX series
GeForce 3 (xbox)

RIVA TNT to GeForce 2
(**): Esta es la opción activa y al parecer funciona bien (o eso creo  ::)).

Y en "Opciones" están activas las siguientes:
-Habilitar translucidez (Extensión Composite)
-Utilizar un ratón con aceleración por hardware
-Habilitar aceleración RENDER (Puede causar problemas al mostrar texto)
-Habilitar pantalla duplicada en la segunda pantalla
-Activación automática del interfaz gráfico (Xorg) al arrancar

¿Está todo correcto o hay que cambiar algo de todo esto?

¿Tienes dos monitores? si no es así deshabilita la pantalla duplicada

Tengo entendido que los drivers noveau conflictúan con los de Nvidia, al menos eso me pasa en una máquina.

Ayudaría mucho si nos muestras los logs relacionados: kdm.log y Xorg.log.
Ambos archivos los encuentras en la carpeta /var/log/

Bueno, bueno, bueno!...
Estaba a punto de dar por zanjado el tema porque después de desactivar lo de la pantalla duplicada no ha vuelto a fallar, y hete aquí que después de la última actualización, esta misma mañana  >:( se me cuelga (o eso creo) Synaptic actualizando un pithon qt4... o algo así...
Mejor abro un nuevo topic.
P.D. ¿Le pongo a este el "SOLUCIONADO" ya o espero un poco a ver que pasa?.

Pues no, no los había desinstalado aún aunque si lo había pensado, para hacer más adelante pero antes que pudiera hacerlo me pasó lo que ya sabes.
Ahora tendré que arreglar primero "el desastre"  :-[ y luego probaré, por cierto, ¿qué es MoBo?

Por cierto, no dije nada de tu Semprom, (que me imagino que seguirá funcionando), por eso mismo. A veces, como todo en la vida, hay piezas, unidades que "salen buenas", y yo, la verdad, no soy partidario del cambiar por cambiar.
Sin ir más lejos, mi coche tiene ya más de 10 años, sigue funcionando, y no lo cambio por uno nuevo de los actuales por muchas "chorraditas" que le pongan  ;D
