issues after installing PCLinux OS FullMonty

I recently put PCLinuxOS kde4 FullMonty on a usb drive, and it works when I use the live boot, but when I install it to the hard disk the screen has a black bar at the bottom and the actual desktop is about an inch raised on the screen. If it helps I'm using an Asus X54L


Does anyone know how to fix this?

what is the screen-resolution of this laptop? Did you try running fm_setwidgets, see here.
