With Windows firewall on, after Win XP re-boot, PCLOS can still read and write Win XP, but access to PCLOS is blocked from Win XP

yes,this much is now expected.

what you need to do is configure the firewall to allow samba traffic to pass through it. you will have to allow traffic on port 137,138 and 445

Exceptions for TCP port 137 and 138 added. Samba over TCP 445 was already in place.

I had to do a samba restart but then I was able to access PCLOS from Win XP with the Win XP firewall on!

Thank-you muungwana

you are welcome.

At some people, people were having a lot of problems like yours and we didnt know where they came from and how to solve them. I am starting to get solutions to these problems down to a science now  :D

opening up those ports on windows works,  now i am waiting for somebody else with the same problem to try a force of samba local server on linux to see if that solution will work too :D

can you change the title of your thread and add "solved" to it?

you can do that by going to the first post, click "modify" link and then change the title.
