Should I remove the U3 launch pad ?
Yes.
You should remove everything related to U3 and reformat
/dev/sdg1 with an
ext filesystem. At least I have with all my SanDisk crusers of different sizes.
You can't really
boot from U3 although it may seem so if you have Windows running. U3 is only useful if started from Windows.
I would recommend that after you've formatted the partition you use Just18's
liveusb script to create the live USB. It's in the repository.
