SanDisk cruser USB stick ? (Answered)
« on: June 16, 2012, 07:33:31 AM »
Hello All,
I am wanting to use this as a Live USB Device
It has the U3 launch pad that makes it bootable on a Windows OS.
This is what I see in dolphin when clicking on the device

The result of fdisk - l as root from the terminal (the last two entries are the USB Device)

[me@localhost ~]$ su

Yes.

You should remove everything related to U3 and reformat /dev/sdg1 with an ext filesystem. At least I have with all my SanDisk crusers of different sizes.

You can't really boot from U3 although it may seem so if you have Windows running. U3 is only useful if started from Windows.

I would recommend that after you've formatted the partition you use Just18's liveusb script to create the live USB. It's in the repository.

Thank you  ;)

I am glad you found it useful.

Be aware that if you have room on the partition you can install a second version of PCLOS and select to boot either at the Grub screen.

I just added the 64bit test05 ISO to my USB stick ...  good fun  ;D
