Actually I don't see anything that you don't see in the last screenshot I posted. There are only pause/resume and cancel options in that pop-up generated by clicking on a magnet link. That green arrow on the left does nothing other than make the pop-up smaller/larger.

I didn't mention the link itself, because it happens on basically EVERY magnet link I might click on. That was the point of that 50+ screenshot.

I just cleared all torrents being downloaded and then clicked 5 random PirateBay magnet links. At first I saw no activity. After about 3 minutes 3 torrents started but all 5 unhelpful windows still stayed on the screen.

It's a documented bug. Dunno why more people aren't seeing it.

Edit: 4 of those torrents came in. I deleted them and their files yet those popups are still there. The fifth torrent is still MIA.

What have you got against producing the information asked for? Telling us a story about what you think, or believe, is meaningless without real information, of the type we ask for. Saying there is a bug report also is meaningless, unless every person using the application has the exact same problem. The fact that many, if not most of us, are not having a problem with the application, and it is working as expected for us, indicates there is something very different about your installation than our own. We can't find that difference without your cooperation.

Clicked magnet link was: magnet:?xt=urn:btih:d4860dd0bec6cc1c3f924ccdb1e893e185a169a4&dn=Wolverine+310&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Ftracker.openbittorrent.com%3A80&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Ftracker.publicbt.com%3A80&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Ftracker.istole.it%3A6969&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Ftracker.ccc.de%3A80

The pic is grainy but seriously dudes, there is no information there beyond what's visible. Actually it occurs to me now that that pop-up is a KDE message, not Ktorrent.

This PCLOS installation is about 10 days old. The only thing unique about it maybe is that I installed it over the 64bit test version.

That window indicates the download is already taking place to some default location. What do you see when you click the little green down arrow head?

What application is being used would be that which is set as default from the Browser being used, and the default location the one set for that application.

It doesn't do anything except make that window/pop-up larger or smaller. In both states the same information is displayed.

I'm not really sure what you are asking here or where I would go to find the info you are looking for. Under Default Applications the web browser is Chromium, the Window manager is KDE and the File manager is Dolphin.

It's definitely Ktorrent that is responding, some torrents do eventually land there.

Sounds like the solution is getting closer.

Looking in Chromium, does it show Ktorrent as the default? If so Where does Ktorrent download to?

Being as Konqueror, Kget, and Ktorrent are all KDE apps, and integrate well, I use Konqueror to do the torrent searches and the magnet selections. Before there were magnets, I had Kget, integrated with Konqueror, set to d/l just the .torrent file to the individual location of my choice, not do the actual torrent d/l. When I started seeing magnet links I started using them, and the windows previously shown were already set for use, evidently as part of the previous configuration for downloading the .torrent files. Being as it's always worked like this, and never had any issues with the downloads, I've seen no reason to change anything.

I had pretty much the same setup on the older KDE3 versions of PCLinuxOS. I'm not at all familiar with Chromium, as I've only run it a few times and didn't like it. Most of my general browsing is with Opera, or Konqueror. Konqueror is my preferred browser for any type of downloads, because of it's integration with Kget. I use Firefox to administer the forum mainly because of the Colorful Tabs extension, so I can easily find my way around the 16-20 standard tabs I usually have open.

Hey O-P. I couldn't find anything useful in Chromium. There's a download location sure but just my usual /downloads folder.

I found an article that describes my exact problem with a claim that the problem has been solved in 4.2 of Ktorrent. We are on 4.1.3.

http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=235&t=106561

Good enough for me.

All I can say is what I said before, I don't use Chrome or Chromium, I use the native KDE apps, and I don't experience any of the problems outlined in that link. Then again, I just checked, and I'm running Ktorrent 4.2.
