I apologize for my rash words. I must have spent at least 16 hours working on this thing, and I have been frustrated at every turn, in spite of the good-natured and kindly help
of so many of you folks who read this. I do appreciate the assistance. If I don't happen to have the same screen as you do, well I don't know why that is, but from now on,
with two exceptions, I will not ask about changing the screen again.
First exception: I would like the desktop to look exactly like that of Windows 7. Icons or widgets, take your pick, with nothing under them but white text. (The background is dark,
but not, thank heavens, black.) If that can be achieved without tearing everything up again, I'd like to do that.
Second exception: What I meant by a tab with words next to it is as follows: (I wish I knew how to post screen shots to this forum, like other folks do, so I will try and describe
in words. I have opened this forum in firefox. There is a little golden fox on the task bar. Now, if I snap on the minimize thing up in the right hand corner, there will still be a little
golden fox on the taskbar. (Some folks seem to call what I call "taskbar" panel. Anyway...) To the right of the little golden fox is a darker gray bar, about 3 1/2 inches long, with
the words (right this minute) "Post reply - Mozilla Firefox" and presumably after I post this, the "Post reply" words will go away, but the other words won't. I want to get rid of
that darker gray bar and the text within it--it is hard to see and it wastes space. Before this "improvement" the golden fox dingus was larger and easier to see.
If somebody knows how to do either of these things without driving me into another several days of anguish, please advise.
