Replaceing Motherboard!!!
« on: June 08, 2012, 09:23:52 PM »
Hi to all,
I am having to replace a failing motherboard.
I have rsynced my email to another machine whilst I rebuild, but after rsyncing Kmail does not show an inbox.
I cannot create one either, it says it already exist, and in the share folder indeed, inbox does exist, so why cannot I see it.
Any thoughts on this matter gratefully received.

Two items;

1. I don't think a boar can be a mother... check your thread title.  ;D

2. While viewing the window where the inbox does not show, press the F5 key to refresh the view. I've had a few windows do that myself, and the F5 refresh brought the missing item into view.

Of what use be there for joy, if not for the sharing thereof?

i never used rsync, could be a permission problem?  supposedly rsync restores everything but a "." could be added hiding the folder or the folder could be moved?

Not sure where Kmail stores it's data (I don't use it), but it sounds like the data you moved with rsync might have wound up in the wrong place?  Digging around a bit, I find:

/home/[username]/.kde4/share/apps/kmail/mail

should be the path where your data needs to reside.  Poke around there and see what's present.  If you have a bunch of blank folders, then your data wound up somewhere else.  Might be worth a look.
