dib0700

Dear Readers

After reinstalling PCLinuxOS KDE edition
PulseAudio Volyme Control works.

Thanking Old Pollack and others.

I kicked out Open Suse. I do not accept a
distro which change hd partiton table and
take all space except one allready existing
Linux distro. In that case PCLinuxOS.

I installed Slackware, copied my home directory
from PCLinuxOS to Slackware. Reinstalled
PCLinuxOS KDE edition. Copied back my home
directory. Very tedious and time consuming.

For the moment Following objects do not works
as I would like. Firstly in PCLinuxOS the
arctec dvd-t usb dongle for TV looking.

Firstly
I do not know HowTo install
dvd-usb-dib0700-1.20.fw

Secondly Slackware-KDE do not work as I
like. That force to an reinstallation of
Slackware for using with Gnome Desktop,
if that woud be an better solution.
Slackware rekognaise very elelegantly
dib0700. Which PCLinuxOS do not.

I suppose that having Slackware to start
from floppy can be a solution. By that
using the existing Grub can be used for
starting Slackware Gnome window.

I will start with that after Midsummer.
Next 3 days will be warm and sunny here
in Finland. Next week will be cold and
wet.

Can someone tell HowTo install
dvd-usb-dib0700-1.20.fw ?

Erik

Are you sure it is not already present?   Look for

Quote
dvb-usb-dib0700-1.20.fw

in  /lib/firmware

Code: [Select]
[user@XPS ~]$ locate dvb-usb-dib0700-
/lib/firmware/dvb-usb-dib0700-1.10.fw
/lib/firmware/dvb-usb-dib0700-1.20.fw
[user@XPS ~]$

If not present then install a newer kernel ........  3.2.xx  .......  which provide the firmware (I think).

[user@XPS ~]$ locate dvb-usb-dib0700-
/lib/firmware/dvb-usb-dib0700-1.10.fw
/lib/firmware/dvb-usb-dib0700-1.20.fw

I cannot explain as I do not understand ......  but suspect you are referring to the terminal output of

ls /lib/firmware

If that is the case it has no meaning related to your problem.

What are you using to scan?
What is the terminal output of the scan?

Obviously the firmware is present so there is no need to install it.

Scan.

I use Media Player Kaffeine.

It have digital tv "button", by other word a rectangle.
One press it and then come Channels.

Then come Channel Scan but it do a normal Scan.
No Source appears.

I suppose that is normal when using Kaffeine.

Kaffeine - television - Configure Television - Device tab ......  is your DVB device listed on this tab?

Unplug the device, wait about 30 secs, plug it back in again, and run

dmesg

Copy and paste the last 25 lines or so of the output, into your next post.

Make sure you include all lines relating to the device being plugged in again.

An example, using a different device .......

Glad you got it sorted.  :D

If you can please add a post explaining what was wrong, so others can find the solution.

Also please edit your first post Heading, and add  [SOLVED]  to the heading.

Have fun!   ;)
