netbook and SD card slot
« on: June 07, 2012, 05:03:22 AM »
Hello Everyone: I have searched the forum and found several subjects on the SD card slots, but I never really found a fix if there is one. I have been working on an Acer Aspire netbook for a friend and Ihave a fully updated KDE 2012.2 version that is running just great, but the SD card slot will not open an SD card when one is inserted. PCC hardware sees the slot, but it will not open a card. Any help on this is really appreciated. Thanks so much.

You need to find out who has manufactured the circuitry of that SD reader I suppose.

In case it is a Realtek one, you may follow this method I did for such one on my HP Mini and meet success. Else keep searching...

Thanks sling-shot, but I'm beginning to think that it may be the sd card reader itself that may be the culprit. I also have an acer aspire netbook and I tried mine and my sd slot works perfect. I also checked PCC on the suspect machine this morning and the sd slot is missing in hardware, I'm almost certain it was there yesterday when I loaded PCLinux. Very strange. I'll continue to investigate, any help or suggestions are appreciated.

i could swear that the sd card reader was working last year, right now it doesn't do a thing, it is not even listed anywhere  :D

My card reader is listed under hardware as Hard Disk sdb card reader.
It's filled with a 32 GB speed 10 SDHC card I picked up at
the Mac store for $20.

Might help, might not.
