it is time to update it
open synaptic and write kernel, form the results search for kernel 2.6.38.8-pclos3.bfs
select it and install it, it will add another package, apply
after that restart the machine, in the boot menu you will find the new option with the new kernel, select it and press enter, the boot process will take some minutes, alot longer than the normal boot time but be patient, this is normal for each new kernel you install and run
after you reach desktop, do some tests and see if that solves the random freeze of the cursor
if this is the case, then you cna set the new kernel to be the default option to boot
if the random freeze keeps happening we will need to see what apps are running at the moment of the freeze happens, on konsole write top
