I forgot to return to this subject, so here is an update .........

I have tried the test5 of 64bit and had the same problems with Konqueror having serious delays in connecting.

Adding just one line to

Code: [Select]
/etc/modprobe.conf
'fixes' the delays. That line reads

Code: [Select]
options ipv6 disable=1

All good  ;)

I am pretty dumb about this, but as I understand it ipv6 is now being implemented. If that is the case will this fix lock you out of urls using ipv6?
Just asking.   ;D

johnmart,

Although I won't swear to it, my understanding is that since ipv6 is backwards compatible with ipv4, you won't get locked out of ipv6 sites.  Those who are more knowledgeable than I, can confirm or deny this.

Hi oldschool,

Yes and no. But for a definite answer (sometime in the near future), we'll need to monitor the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and its working groups.

Peace and much respect,
Archie
