xfce4 settings manager blank
« on: June 01, 2012, 07:53:35 AM »
My settings manager opens a blank settings window. It opens blank from terminal also and gives no errors.I have tried reinstalling settings manager, but still empty.
All the applications are available from thunar, but don't seem to be linked to the settings manager. Is there something missing to associate the individual settings applications to the manager? It has been this way for awhile, and everything else seems to work fine.

I thought I would add a screenshot to show what I'm talking about.Anybody have any idea what to do about this?I tried googleing this, but can't find any info related to this. This is actually a phinx distro if that makes any difference.I would like to solve this rather than have to change anything.Everything else is up to date and working fine.

Ximru,

Was it always like that, or did it happen recently? Open Synaptic. Find the xfce4-settings package. If it is not installed, install it. If it is already installed, mark it for reinstallation and reinstall it.

Ximru, I actually ran into this same problem a while back.  I do not know if the cause if the same as yours, but my solution is worth a shot.

I changed my theme.  Then rebooted my system  You can run "xfce-appearance-settings" from the terminal to open the appearance applet.

As I said, this is phinx desktop with xfce 4.10. It seems to be a problem with the update to 4.10.I found something about it on the xfce forum-still trying to work out a fix.

Phinx has relocated and is not part of PCLinuxOS any more, also it is still based on PCLinuxOS.

The 32bit final should be out shortly.

I have this problem after the 4.10 upgrade.
I removed & reinstalled the settings manager via synaptic with no change.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Check if you have "garcon" installed.
Additionally, the packages "gtk-kde4" and "oxygen-gtk" can cause problems to xfce-settings-manager

Guess reinstalling task-xfce4 and task-xfce4 plugins packages does also work.
It installs all needed packages for the xfce4 desktop.
