As I said, it was working until I upgraded TB to 13.0, & now I can't use ANY .wav file from my personal folder in the home directory. No idea why....

I wonder if the WAV files that won't play have a slightly different format or such?

Have you had a look at a couple of WAV files with MediaInfo to compare them?

Might be interesting if there are differences .....

Have you copied the file to be used to the location of the usual sound file?
Would it be the location of storage of the file that is causing the problem?

I don't have the problem here so it is not universal it seems.

Same here !

So, for starters, how did you get TB 13.0 on your computer ?

Now, that's odd.... I just checked, & I do in fact have 12.0.1. I could've sworn I had 13.0. This is really strange!

Yep, & I have that one. I guess I got the numbers mixed up.... But nonetheless, since installing TB 12, I can't use a .wav from my personal folder in the home directory. No clue why....

Firefox is at 13  ;)

I did the following test here today ...  maybe you could duplicate it .....

KDE CC - Common Appearance & Behaviour - Application and System Notifications -   pick any event and then use the browse facility to find a sound file in my /home/user/Music .....  I used full song files to experiment.

I played both WAV & MP3 files without incident.

So my system does not care about the location of the file to be played.

Can you duplicate this?

That's the same as choosing "default system sound for new mail" in TB, which doesn't work. I don't hear anything. I looked in Application & System Notifications, & there isn't even an option for new mail notification.

I am unsure from your reply if you tried what I suggested or not.

I'm unable to do exactly as you suggested, since there isn't any option for new mail notification in Application & System Notifications. Your test won't help me, since the new mail notification doesn't work using that method to begin with.

I am unsure from your reply if you tried what I suggested or not.

Pick any sound on your system except for one in your home directory.

You do have LibreOffice installed, right? If you don't know where some .wav or .mp3 files are stored on your system, you can find them pretty easily.

locate .wav | less
locate .mp3 | less
