Failsafe will not boot
« on: May 21, 2012, 01:12:28 PM »
I have installed pclinuxos as the single OS on my box. The failsafe option at boot does not work. At one point there is a message 'cannot open file boot' then it drops into a dead screen. I have to turn off the power to reboot the box. The main OS boots without trouble and the OS works as expected.
Short of a re-install is there any way I can get the failsafe option to boot?

unclerichard,

Welcome to the forum. I believe what you're seeing is "cannot open file delete". Does the "dead screen" you come to look like the one below?

If it does, what you're seeing is the normal behavior for safe boot. You will be at a shell prompt, in single user mode, and the only user is root. Again, if that's what you're seeing, the proper way to turn the machine off is to type in the command halt. If you want to reboot, type in reboot.
