I have just install PCLOS 2012.02 on a sata3 SDD drive on a sata2 mother board and find it is only marginally faster than a sata2 drive and is certainly very much slower than a sata3 drive.
When first installed it booted the system in 18secs. which I thought was fast. When I added a second sata3 drive on the same mother board the speed dropped to 35 secs. Now I cannot get 18 seconds back even after removing the second drive.
Indeed, creating a live cd is taking forever, it is currently a 36% after 1hr and 30 mins.
On a sata3 system with a sata2 boot disk, the system completed the live cd in 30 mins.
The SDD is a Corsair Force 3 sata3 series 60GB.
Do sata3 drives run more slowly than sata2 in sata2 slots?
Does anyone have any comparison systems that could be verified.
I thought SSD's were the bees knees, but it looks as though I am wrong.
Your thoughts on this matter gratefully received.
