Well,
I decided to retire my old computer and buy new mainboard and cpu. So, I did.

http://ark.intel.com/products/53414/Intel-Celeron-Processor-G530-(2M-Cache-2_40-GHz)-cpu

With PcLinuxOs KDE4 Does not work the integrated video. I Can see just ASUS logo on the start up and when I choose to boot PcLoS...no video on the screen. Using any card on PCI Express there is no problem.
Can you give me an advise how to make work the integrated intel video.
THANKS.

  • xmas is comming!
the link of the mainboard you posted doesn't have the video card model, possibly a intel hd3000 or hd4000

no idea if the driver we have now covers it

in another post it was used to boot some special options, could it be the same case here?  force vesa or any other boot option?

I did some extensive reading on this motherboard, and nowhere have I found the actual video system used... they kind of imply that onboard support is implemented in the chipset, but that doesn't really sound right.

It does appear to have some rather high end features that look interesting (like Thunderbolt support and the UEFI flashing at hardware level), but I haven't seen anything indicating its actual video subsystem.  All that's ever said is "intel HD video".

Hmm... here's the actual ASUS download page:

http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=1&m=P8Z77-M&hashedid=7yxGrS52FngihsKT

From here you can get the motherboard manual.  Some stuff looks interesting under the "System Agent Configuration" section as described on page 2-21 of the manual, but I can't copy it and paste it here from Acrobat Reader.

It still doesn't say what actual driver is used, but has some options for hardware setup that might impact operation...

ASUS does not rate this board for use with Linux.  As such, I'm a little disappointed with them on this.

In short, switching between the integrated Intel Graphics and and external card should be done "in software", that's actually a problem in Linux, not fully solved and not fully supported.

Unless there is some BIOS settings to lock the video to the Integrated Graphics Adapter, you are out of luck.

Well, I burned disk with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and I had no problem, it worked fine. Obviously, PcLos does not support this kind of video.
