KRDC (K remote desktop client) on your desktop→vnc protocol→VNC server on a machine that you want access.

PS
VNC server for KDE is called Krfb, for windows I have no idea.

I created a button on the desktop for each of my machines that runs an rdesktop session.

If you need to access remote machines (via internet) Teamviewer works very well

ah, yes. KRDC also supports rdp (alternative to vnc i think...) but I never tested it myself.

As for vnc (sorry, I have no clue about rdp!) and KRDC you can connect KRDC to as many as you wish. The problem is that if you want to connect one remote machine to many clients at once... it won't work well. It's just the very limitation of the idea of vnc: it just streams the video of desktop over the network, not create new session for logged user. Very simple concept.

I'm sorry, I don't know either. I've only ever had to use two simultaneous connections and usually just one

After quick googling it seems that rdp in windows (rdp is windows specific?) supports multiple connections to the server as separate sessions but it's limited in non-server versions so only one connection at given time.

Completely not sure, maybe you can just try it and see if it works.

PS
rdp is not windows specific as it seems.
