Hi guys,
iḿ a brand new linux user and iḿ also new to the forums
iǘe done a basic search around the forums and i have not been able to figure out how to do this and the wiki doesnt help. the way it is stated is very complicated and i dont really get it. no programming knowledge =D so please bear with me

So here are the problems

1. I dont understand how to install softwares without using synaptic. I want to install pyload, iǘe downloaded the program from its website, its in some debian format and i dont know what to do. I tried using ./configure and stuff like that but i dont know enough about it to really use it cause they say its unable to access the directories or something. Can someone explain the general rule of installing software without synaptic in simple terms =D

2. the UMplayer stutters when i hit pause, so when its in a window form and i hit pause, itĺl play frames with sound and it wont actually pause. Is this normal? is there a solution?

3. I have also noticed that when i tried dragging something out of file roller extraction, the cursor will hang and i have to restart the computer.

4. How do you allow the panel tabs to be individual of the desktop as in if i use desktop 1 i only wnat to see the panels that i placed there and not the ones that have those [ ] on its name?

5. Does the live chat work? I have tried asking around there but no one ever replies me even though i wait there for an hour.

6. Is there a way to assign keyboard hotkeys ? I am using the LXDE setup and i want to be able to ctrl-v paste if possible as i can ctrl-c copy.

7. How do i move my bookmarks with my cursor in firefox? It seems locked in place, i have to cut and paste to move it, is this normal for linux?

8. I often get the problem in firefox where i cant connect to websites, sometimes its fixed when i refresh. why is this happening? other times like putlocker, it doesnt connect at all

i know i have a lot of questions and i would really appreciate it if someone could help me
Thanks!

It's not recommend that you install anything from outside the repos, not only can it break your install, it also voids your privileges to help here on the forum. It's better to request a package in the New Package Requests section on the forum.
Be very, very kind to your neighbors, but don't take the fence down!

It is normal for this forum to start a help thread per item, after searching the forum for a similar thread to see if the problem has been previously addressed.

You will get better and more focussed answers that way, and also make specific threads available for others when they search.

Package Suggest will become available to you after you have posted (I think) 10 times.
Be sure you read the requirements of making a post there ......  to include the required info for the packager.

1. answered

2. Plays fine here even on HD video. No problem with pausing. So the problem might be something peculiar to your install or hardware. Separate thread would be best.

3. That should not be happening .....

4. Again a separate thread ...  specific to the DE you are using, so post it in the correct section of the forum for best response.

5. Yes it works .....  not everybody is awake at the same time as you, and we all have lives to lead.

6. Post in the LXDE section for best results

7. The question is a bit vague .....  but if you mean rearrange the bookmarks on the bookmark tab then dragging & dropping works here.

8. Again this is too vague ......  FF connects properly for most everybody ......  so it may be something to do with your install, your connection or any of many other reasons.

You should also supply info with your questions that may affect how the reader understands the difficulty .......  for instance the hardware spec of your machine is important, as well as the version of the OS that is installed, and when last FULLY updated.

Welcome to the forum ......  ;)

Required libraries installed?

to 6 no idea what is happen, sorry... Hotkeys working without any issues.

ctrl-c is copy
ctrl-v is paste
ctrl-x is cut
ctrl-t is open a new tab in ff
ctrl-f is open search box in ff
etc...

If you want to use your own hotkeys, see xbindkeys, some helpful threads, and articles in our magazine available.
