..........Just for the halibut, i downloaded the recent MINT cinnamon/xfce ....ran a you tube- video =worked on LIVEcd but with NO SOUND.

...Updated the flash packages and the same BLACK BOX shows on you tube.......SO it may not be ANYTHING to do with PCLOS - maybe with LINUX "adobe" flash and FIREFOX #12....just for the record, and info for our great DEV's... ;)

JN

EDIT: FYI The clients video card shows:  VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV15GL [Quadro2 Pro] (rev a4)  and I ran a 2011.09 LIVE lxde CD and everything works perfect...also checked the packages and FLASHPLAYER plugin is 10.3.183.10-1.....and Firefox is 7.0-1....I'm wonderin if a person should even update "older" machines ANYMORE?......it has an 1800mhz AMD DURON and vt8233 onboard sound....It seems problems occur after "updates" .... ??? ...These things turn a client off. :-[

.....I finally saw/found this post by OldPolak :

The package is not broken, the actual application is broken, therefore it needs to be fixed upstream, by Adobe. As such, until it is fixed, it should not be be placed in our repo where it could automatically be part of a normal system upgrade. If users who don't have nVidia cards wish to use it, it could be made available in the special or testing sections.

The older, "works for all", version should be left in the nonfree section until the new version is fixed, so it works properly for everyone.

Technically this thread should not be in this section, but rather the Rejected Packages section, if it is not being made available at all until the fix, or the Help --> Software section, if both versions are being made available.

I will wait for things to get sorted out....although I did try an ATI rage 128 pro card and it still did'nt work in the clients machine, but maybe other packages were conflicting.   I am going to do a total RE-install for the client, and install a different video card....I did already test 2 other clients machines and they also had the you tube black screen- but SOME of the videos worked after running firefox in safe mode with SHOCKWAVE FLASH disabled... ???  I'll wait for the older FLASH PLUGIN to be put into the REPOS, and keep my fingers crossed....

EDIT: I guess i was in the wrong section....and DEbass hit the nail on the head with this answer!

remove flash-player-plugin from Synaptic
add testing in your repo line
change
main updates nonfree kde4 games
to
main updates nonfree kde4 games testing
reload and search for flash-player-plugin11.1
mark and apply
remove testing from repo

...a simple fix for now! thank you all for helping!...

My client can now see this :
"You'll Never Know" (Vera Lynn, 1943)

And is he happy!

Apparently some people with certain graphic cards have issues when using the latest version of flash-player. For those of you concerned I have repacked the older version flash-player-plugin-11.1.102.63 which should be available soon in Synaptic with the name flash-player-plugin11.1. Due to the potential security risks you should only install this outdated version if the uptodate version (currently 11.2.202.235.1) does not work for you. The outdated and the current version are mutually exclusive, meaning you can only install one of the two, preferably the current version of course. Once this appears in the repo install the version you need and please do not pin packages.

I did and work fine,

Thanks pinoc.
