<Answered> Trash Problem
« on: May 07, 2012, 04:51:23 PM »
Using KDE fully updated. How do you empty trash? Real newbie question right? But I must be missing something. I have been using ctrl+a then shift+delete and that does remove the files but about the third time  I start getting Trash is Full error when I try to move a file to trash. Mostly pictures so that is not unreasonable if I wasn't deleting the files in trash but I am. I can manually delete the Meta Data file and all is fine for about three dumps and then I have to delete the Meta Data file again to clear the Trash is Full error.

If you using Dolphin I believe the Trash default size is 10% of /home.

It can be set to trigger an "event" such as deleting files "older than x days"

Or when the "limit" is reached it can be set to remove oldest or largest files.

Dolphin > Tools > Configure Dolphin > Trash

If you are running KDE and if you have a Wastebin widget on the desktop or on the panel, you can empty it manually by right-clicking the icon and choosing "Empty Wastebin".

If you are running Dolphin you can right-click the "Wastebin" entry on the Places panel and do the same thing. In Konqueror you can do the same thing, or you can type trash:/ in the address bar, hit enter, and then right-click the window that is opened.

(Or you can empty your Wastebin directories one by one....)
