How do I turn off user name prompt at boot up?
« on: May 03, 2012, 10:52:28 PM »
I know I have asked this question before but now I am using LXDE and can't find the Configure Your Desktop > System Administration > Login Screen box.   I want to turn off the User prompt at sign in.  I don't want a list of users displayed.  I just want it where you have to enter your user name and then password.  In other words I don't want users to see what other users are on this computer.  I got it to work that way before but I just can't find that check box again.  I am thinking it is not implemented in this version.

By the way, I am running this on a 32GB USB3 flash drive and it is FAST.  Unfortunately, my USB ports need drivers and won't boot so I have to use USB2 ports but between this version and fast flash I am still impressed!

You were using KDE previously? KDE uses KDM. LXDE uses GDM. The 2 are different. You will not find the controls for KDM in LXDE.
For GDM:
Menu > More Applications > Configuration > Configure Your LXDesktop (lxdecc/LXDE Control Center) ---
LXDE Control Center > System tab > GDM Settings >>> Users tab.

I am guessing you meant USB3 ports above ......  what version of PCLOS are you running and what kernel is in use?

I thought the USB3 drivers were in the later ISOs .......
