Help with using two screens (HP mini)
« on: May 03, 2012, 02:19:33 PM »
I'm using an HP mini, as you may have gathered from the topic title. I'm doing pretty well with it in concert with PCLinuxOS, having much fun. Now I'm trying to do something new, and I don't know how to do it.
What I'm trying to do is to use two screens at once, like they're two separate screens. The thing is, my laptop is treating them as though they are one in the same, as in, the same things happen in both. I wish to be able to scroll my mouse from one screen to the other, and even have separate backgrounds for both. I did an xrandr command line, and this is what I got:
$ xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 800 x 600, maximum 4096 x 4096
VGA1 connected 800x600+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 337mm x 270mm
   1280x1024      75.0 +   60.0
   1152x864       75.0
   1024x768       75.1     70.1     60.0
   800x600        72.2     75.0     60.3*
   640x480        72.8     75.0     60.0
   720x400        70.1
LVDS1 connected 800x600+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 223mm x 125mm
   1024x600       60.0 +
   800x600        60.3*    56.2
   640x480        59.9
I'm not sure if all this information is necessary, or if this isn't the right information, or if it is the right information, but just not enough. Anyway, http://i1.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/234/765/b7e.jpg
