Hello

In my previous HD in my laptop I have LXDE as Host for my virtual machines. I just got yesterday a new Desktop with Win 7 in the HD from factory and I will also install a 240 GB SSD Series 520 from Intel to have dual boot.

1. Which would be the most appropriated PCLinuxOS version to install and run in this new SSD?

Thanks and regards

if you have a good cpu and a decent ammount of ram, you can install all and test load times

the heaviest wll always be kde4 and gnome will be second, the rest will be faster and faster

it depends on how patient you are and how much you like the desktop you use now

chances are big that you already are using the best option

personally i am a kde guy and will recommend you that

An SSD is just another storage device, really.  Put what you want on there, whatever does what you need or want done on your computer.  It's kinda hard knowing what you would consider best with the information given, since you have not indicated what the intended OS needs to do for you.

If you're looking to save maximum space for applications and data, though, consider one of the MiniMe respins.  With 240 GB, though, that really shouldn't be a consideration unless you're doing heavy CAD, 3D rendering or other multimedia stuff.

{Grumbles} Wish I could afford a 240GB SSD...{/Grumbles}  Seriously, have fun with that unit!  It looks like it will be blindingly fast no matter what you put on it.

after extensive usage of pclinux 2012 i found that a 120 gb ssd would be more than enough for me, in fact, a 60 gb ssd is perfect

I have a Western Digital 128G SSD. KDE boots from grub to the desktop in under 12 seconds.

Thanks to everyone who donates. You keep the servers running.

Tex,

Is that connected to sata2 or 3?  Mine is connected to sata2 and my boot times, while much faster are not equal to what you report.
