Minute fonts cannot be read
« on: April 27, 2012, 11:02:37 AM »
Hi there all. I've just come back to PCL after a few years on Mint. That's another story.
Having an interesting install problem. PCL KDE version downloaded a week ago.
Two desktop PC's; one a 2003 model, the other a 2010 model. Quad core processor and all that.
PCL installed perfectly on the old PC. Very impressive. That's why I put it on the newer PC (the old one is like a toy I experiment with). But not the newer PC. Font sizes are unreadably small. Go into desktop configuration and you can adjust font sizes (you think). OK I made them all uniformly bigger with the result most of them were enormous but the rest were just as small as ever. Here is a screenshot of firefox. The pages it displays are normal, but the menus are, as you can see, unreadable.
Why such a difference between two computers? They are next to each other. I used the selfsame CD to install both.
Any help appreciated.
By the way, how do you insert an image here? Can't do that either.

By the way, how do you insert an image here?

Upload it to a image hosting service like www.postimage.org or tinypic.com. Then copy the URL, paste wherever you want the picture, mark the URL, and click the "Insert Image" icon. Or just copy and paste the address in a format that works as such.

Fullofhope:

To post an image you need to first upload one to an image hosting site, then set the link they give you in your reply. I use http://postimage.org myself, then click the link copy to clipboard that follows Hotlink for Forums (1). In the forum reply set the cursor where you want it, with a left click, then from the right click menu, chose Paste to set the image link.

If this is a problem only in Firefox browser (not with the KDE desktop), install the firefox add-on  'Theme Font and Size Changer' found here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/theme-font-size-changer/?src=search

Hope this helps and welcome to the forum Fullofhope!
