Fast Track Pro not recognized by KMIX
« on: April 26, 2012, 12:37:03 PM »
Hello all,

I am having an issue I'd like some feedback on. I have recently powered on my M-Audio Fast-Track Pro USB sound device, so I could do a little doinking with audio stuff. The device works properly in Windows, so I think the hardware is good.

Phonon shows both my internal Sound Card, and the Fast-Track. I can prefer it. However, no amount of preferring will ever cause it to be used, and I cannot see the device as a tab in KMix at all.  Not at all familiar with the newer KDE audio tool-chain, can anyone advise?

I am using recently updated PCLinuxOs 2012 32bit.

TY

My standard response to making use of multiple sound devices is to install PulseAudio and use that to determine the sound stream source and sink.

To install PulseAudio

install the following packages using Synaptic, after you have hit Reload, Mark All update, and Apply & Apply again.

task-pulseaudio
pavucontrol

After they have been installed use PCC - Hardware - Sound   to enable PulseAudio and reboot the PC.

When back up & running, launch PulseAudio Volume Control from the Sound Menu ......
