xsane problen with epson scanner px720wd[SOLVED]
« on: April 26, 2012, 11:11:50 AM »
Hello all

I am trying to get the scanner on a epson px720wd to work, this maybe called an artisan xxx in the usa. I have downloaded what I believe are the correct drivers from the epson website, http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/du/02/DriverDownloadInfo.do?LG2=EN&CN2=&DSCMI=17168&DSCCHK=cf127314cd4a72b9e369e7b721953185bf2a9e1a. I have successfully installed the data package. However, when I try to install the core package I get error messages. The command and output is shown below :-

[root@localhost Downloads]# rpm --upgrade iscan-2.28.1-3.i386.rpm

The question is should I remove the sane-backends file via Synaptic and try again?

Did you propose an update in package suggest area on this forum?
=> you should to that first, because installing from other sources will render your system unsupportable (how farther you go, how less it's possible for us to make/have an install that behaves like yours)....

If you still insist on installing it that way, we can help you installing it maybe, but it's important that you understand the consequences  ;)

It turns out that it installed correctly!

However, I removed the xsane packages and that also enabled me to use the scanner function. I am therefore going to close this thread.
