LibreOffice Manager refuses to install LibreOfice
« on: April 24, 2012, 08:30:07 AM »
I have an issue with my KDEPim AddressBook which let to this problem.  See:

http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,104661.0/topicseen.html

It all started with the April 18th update of shared-mime-info to 1.0-1pclos2012.

I did a re-install and forced Synaptic to leave shared-mime-info at 0.71-1pclos2010.
My addressbook issue sorted out, however, because I did not update shared-mime-info, now LibreOfficeManager will not install LibreOffice.  Here's the Error Log:

Reading Package Lists...
Building Dependency Tree...
The following packages will be upgraded
   shared-mime-info (0.71-1pclos2010 => 1.0-1pclos2012)
1 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 removed and 0 not upgraded.
Inst shared-mime-info [0.71-1pclos2010] (1.0-1pclos2012 Unknown:Unknown/Unknown)
Conf shared-mime-info (1.0-1pclos2012 Unknown:Unknown/Unknown)

Help please to get this sorted out so I can have LibreOffice and KDEPim/Kontact's AddressBook.  I hadn't had any problems with KDEPim/Kontact for my years, nor with LibreOffice since it changed from OpenOffice.

If it jams, force it.... if it breaks, ... it needed to be replaced anyway!!

To get around this you can open a terminal and run:

Code: [Select]
lomanager --no-updatetest

Thanks TerryN,

That let me install LibreOffice.

Will that also allow updates to LibreOffice if they come in before the shared-mime-info thing gets worked out?

It is a feature that has been added to lomanager and I have no reason to believe it will be removed.  So you should be able to use it whenever you update LO.
