Live session just freezes on logo
« on: April 23, 2012, 06:44:03 PM »
Hi everybody. I am trying to install PCLOS LXDE on my laptop. I created a live usb using unetbootin, and made the laptop boot from it. when I choose the live session, I can see the logo and a progress bar which is being filled. after the progress bar reaches the end just nothing happens and the system does not boot up! The CD image is OK because I installed the same image on a VBOX. Most probably there is something wrong with the hardware. Am I right? Any clues how to find the problem?

P.S. It could be a problem with unetbootin also. Since I installed PCLOS using the image directly mounted to VBOX.

Two things you can try:

  • Press escape during boot (when you see the progress bar), and look if it hangs somewhere
  • Press <Ctrl><Alt><F1> when it 'hangs', and try to login with "guest" and passwd "guest"; then enter command "startx" (all without quotes): if you encounter an error, please post it here

Thanks rubentje1991 ! I tried Esc already. When I press Esc I end up with a blank screen and a cursor blinking in the top left position. However, I will try your second solution. I am a bit busy these days and it might take a few days for me to have the time ;) Anyways, many thanks for the solutions.
