Wifi Icon (Solved)
« on: April 23, 2012, 09:20:19 AM »
Hello, i'm a longtime KDE pclinuxos user, recently i have boght a samsung netbook to my daughter and the first thing was install pclinux (latest), everything was fine except the wifi icon, it is showing the black circle with a green tick, but on my acer laptop (fully updated) a have the correct icon bars. i have search on the forum, but i found nothing. i have updated with the latest network packages but the problem remains, i have created a new user but the same.

Any Help?

Thank's and Regards

Hi Giskard,

Have you updated the machine with synaptic?

I think there was a glitch with the network item which was fixed, have a look a few posts down in the Networking section.

Hi As, yes works perfect, both wifi and ethernet. let me tell you, that this problem only happens to me with this netbook, in my laptop I have no problems and both my laptop and  my daughter samsung netbook I have installed the same initial version PCLinuxOS 2012 KDE Desktop, and both have broadcom drivers.

If you have updated the samsung today ... including drakx-net related packages ... beware that a reboot is required to activate the updated packages ... else I'm out of ideas.

Eventually try to reinstall drakx-net and libdrakx-net packages ... and reboot.

The broadcom-wl drivers is not related in this case, as it appear the connection is working.

After the latest draknet and broadcom drivers update, the icon become the standard wifi.
