Just a tip that I have learned.
PCLinuxOS is in my opinion, pretty bullet proof.
That is to say that update after update I never have a problem and almost never reboot the box. It remains stable, and always works.
In time, you forget about reboots. You never have to do them and as a result, you never think about them.
On the rare occasion that something doesn't work however, e.g. an app. don't start or something hangs and has to be killed. A new graphics issue pops up or just anything out of the ordinary starts happening, remember to try rebooting the machine.
I know, it's a basic first step in correcting these little issues but I have seen people screw things up for real, trying to fix a problem that would have corrected itself with a simple reboot.
Tip: Your first step should be to reboot the box. I have seen time and again that this will fix a strange problem on an updated install almost always
