but no way to use and actualize repos.

So try if you can update your 2012 Phoenix, but maybe it's to late, cause the changed apt-get/synaptic packages.

A few months back, I did manage to update 2012.02 Phoenix to current status ... but it's not a task that's for the faint of heart. My hard drive on that particular laptop decided to go on permanent vacation. Unless you know your way around the system well, and unless you know Xfce well, I don't recommend it for novice Linux or Xfce users. There are a number of potential pitfalls along the way, and the likelihood of falling into any one of them is significant. Yes, updating the Synaptic sources.list file is one of the steps ... but with the move from Xfce 4.8 to 4.10, there are other things to fix and correct.

I, for one, am eager for ghostbunny's new Xfce ISO. You might have noticed that we've been running a series of Xfce Power User Tips, Tricks & Tweaks articles in the magazine, in anticipation of the much-awaited new Xfce ISO. Until the new Xfce ISO is released, I recommend the easier path of installing from LXDE-Mini, installing task-xfce and task-xfce-plugins, setting up the Xfce desktop, then deleting the specific LXDE stuff that's not used/wanted on a Xfce installation. There are fewer pitfalls for the less experienced user than the method I chose a couple of months ago. But for me, updating from the 2012.02 Phoenix release was faster and easier.

What I did was installing LXDE (still been able to actualize the repos) and add the XFCE.
It's working perfect!
And - nice surprise! - I found the panel contain now the Trash can!
I'm thinking perform this in my laptop too. Or, maybe, waiting for a 64 bit release?...
...But it won't be very soon, isn't it?...

 :D ;D ;) :)
As I mentioned in my post, it's not for me exactly, as I'm a KDE user.
Have nothing against XFCE (in fact quite like it; E17 too) or LXDE. It's just I cannot customize them to my needs.
Thanx anyway.

It's great that you like KDE.  ??? But there are some of us who like something a LOT lighter.

I beg your pardon. I misunderstood the sense of your post...  :-[ :-X

It's not I don't like something lighter. It's just that, due to my eyes problem (not legally blind, but with only 5-15 % vivion) I find KDE more customizable for my needs.
For instance, it's very hard to see the small pointer in LXDE. If there is a possibility to increase the size like in KDE or, at least as in XFCE, didn't find it yet.
OTOH, is better for me a reversed color scheme: white fonts on a dark background. Neither found, yet, this possibility in LXDE. Something in XFCE, but it don't work very well...
I changed the forum theme too, because it was very hard to see the white text in the light blue buttons... Very nice design, btw, but not for me... :)

Ika,

Your reply sounded as if you might have thought I was replying to you ... but I wasn't. I was simply stating that it IS possible to upgrade 2012.02 Phoenix, but it isn't for the faint of heart. The path you took was the one that I said would be easier for most people.

Sorry if you misunderstood the tenor of my post/reply. Mine was merely an informational post.

Again, I'm sorry. Since I'm not a native english speaker I was a bit confused.
